What is viagra

Our blood vessels contain muscle walls that get tense due to a lack of blood flow. Viagra is a pharmaceutical drug that is known to increase the blood flow and relaxing the muscle walls in blood vessels in particular areas of the human body. Above is the main reason behind Erectile Dysfunction(ED) and Viagra is widely used to treat Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension and Erectile Dysfunction.

Viagra can show some unwanted and dangerous effects if used with some medicines. It is suggested to take advice from a doctor if you want to use Viagra with your other prescribed medicines. Inform the doctor about the intake of nitrates. If one is consuming nitrate drugs for heart problems or chest pain then it is advised to avoid consuming a dose of Viagra. Some of the most common nitrate drugs are isosorbide dinitrate, nitroglycerin, isosorbide mononitrate. Mixing Viagra(Sildenafil) with nitrate causes the blood pressure to reduce at a serious and sudden rate.

When not to Consume Viagra:

  • When one is allergic to Sildenafil
  • When one is consuming nitrates in any form.
  • When one is consuming drugs to cure pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Before consuming Viagra, take advice from your doctor if you had one of these:

  • A congestive heart failure, Heart Attack or Stroke
  • Coronary Artery Disease or any other heart diseases
  • Any bleeding disorder
  • Diseases such as Peyronie's disease or any other physical deformity of one’s penis
  • Low or high blood pressure
  • A stomach ulcer
  • Diseases such as leukaemia, sickle cell anaemia or multiple myeloma

Viagra is known to increase blood flow to certain parts of the body including eyes. Consumption of Sildenafil can cause a sudden vision loss due to increased blood flow in the optic nerve of the eyes. Though the vision loss is not permanent.

Alcohol and Marijuana(Cannabis) consumption can increase the chance of vision loss. If one is consuming Alcoholic beverages or Marijuana then it is advised to consult a doctor before consuming Viagra.

Consult your doctor before using Viagra(Sildenafil) if you are consuming other drugs. For best results, Sildenafil(Viagra) can be consumed approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour before sexual activity.

This is not a hard and fast rule, Viagra can be consumed 3-4 hours prior to sexual intercourse. Viagra tablets can be taken before or after the consumption of food. However, high-fat food may decrease the working capacity of Sildenafil(Viagra).

50 mg Viagra tablets are enough for most of the users. However, the dosage may be increased to 100 mg or reduced to 25 mg according to your system suitability.

Note: Do not consume more than one tablet in a span of 24 hours.

Viagra is known to work for men who are not able to sustain their penis erection due to erectile dysfunction. However, Viagra does not provide sexual stimulation it only increases the blood flow in penis muscle walls to increase the sustainability of erection. Sildenafil(Viagra will not work if a man does not get any sexual stimulation.

Nitric Oxide gets released when sexual stimulation occurs by the nervous system of one's body in the erection tissues of a man’s penis. Messenger cyclic guanosine monophosphate(cGMP) is produced by an enzyme stimulated by nitric oxide. cGMP dilates the arteries in the penis which results in erectile tissue and arteries to get filled with blood which concludes to a better erection.

Sildenafil(Viagra) does not let cGMP to become degraded resulting in increased blood flow to the penis.

Viagra Overdose can cause serious damage. It is highly advised to consume the drug in a standard dosage. If one is consuming more than the standard dosage and feels any side effects, he should immediately call a doctor.

Symptoms of Viagra Overdose may include:

  • Distorted or blur vision
  • Vomiting
  • Damage to the optic nerve-optic neuropathy
  • Prolonged Priapism
  • Blindness
  • Diarrhoea
  • Break down of muscles

Sildenafil(Viagra) starts working in 30 minutes to 1 hour of its consumption but it can take up to 4 hours in some people to show its full effect.

In most of the men, Viagra’s effect starts wearing off in about 2-3 hours after its consumption. It affects differently on different bodies, it can last for up to 5 hours.

This is to remember that Viagra is not meant to create an erection without any sexual stimulation. A man must be sexually stimulated with any of his desired situations. Viagra’s effect will be triggered as soon as a man is getting a boner.

How Viagra works and for how long its effect stands depends on some external factors like:

  • Age
  • Diet
  • General Health Conditions
  • Alcohol consumption before or after Viagra dosage
  • Intake of Viagra Dosage
  • Any other Medical Drugs one is consuming

One can try the same dose for up to 4-time without reasoning the dosage if the person does not feel any side effects from the first time use.

Here is the answer to the question :

  • 50 mg: Viagra 50 mg tablets is the standard dose recommended for majority men, especially when one is a first time user.
  • 25 mg: Lower dosage like 25 mg Viagra tablets is recommended for those who consumed 50 mg tablet first and got the desired result but the higher dosage left a side effect.
  • 100 mg: If one is not getting the desired results from sildenafil(Viagra) 50 mg tablets then he can switch to 100 mg tablets but only if it does not leave any side effect.

If the first Viagra Dose does not give the desired results but also it does not give any side effects, one can try taking it for 4 days and have some situations to trigger sexual stimulation. You might want to switch to a higher dosage but only if it does not leave any side effect. If it still doesn’t work then it is time to consult a doctor and find a better way to cure erectile dysfunction. Note: Viagra does not work if there is no sexual stimulation.
